Polar Summer' is a biennial that grows rosettes of large leaves draped with a soft cottony coat of white in its first season. The following year, a sturdy column of bloom shoots up to reveal molten gold florets studded all along the tall spikes. Excellent in dry, Mediterranean style gardens, it is a bold architectural plant that looks wonderful with grasses and masses of tall verbena.
