A lovely eastern native that carpets woodland edges in sun to part shade, golden Alexander is perfectly matched with wild columbine, intermingling drifts of both on dappled banks are a delight of spring. The flower umbels are clusters of individual sparks of sunny yellow, and are an important food source for native bees; the leaves are a food source for black swallowtail caterpillars.
